Join us and be a part of the diverse Caltech community.Job SummaryUnder general supervision, will work as a Certified Lifeguard to supervise the safety of recreational swimmers and athletes during inter-collegiate practices. Hours include early morning, afternoon, evenings and weekends and will require flexibility to work on short term notice. This position is an occasional, on-call positionEssential Job DutiesSupervise recreational swimmers, maintaining focus on water and pool equipmentEducate swimmers and enforce policiesMaintain swimming fitness (recommended to swim a minimum of three times weekly)Perform rescue duties as necessaryParticipate in all scheduled in-service training sessionsMaintain appropriate certificationsDuties may include covering the front officePerform other related duties as assignedBasic QualificationsMust be able to lift and carry a minimum 50 lbs. of athletic and pool equipment in and around the pool areaMust be available to work various hours with short term notice, including weekends, early mornings, evenings and the ability to work holidaysAbility to work effectively with students, staff, faculty, alumni and community membersMust possess the following certifications or can obtain them before employment begins and maintain them throughout the course of employment:Current Lifeguard Training and Community First Aid CertificationCurrent CPR for the Professional Rescuer CertificationCurrent AED CertificationPreferred QualificationsCollege degreeLifeguard experienceLifeguard Instructor CertificationWater Safety InstructorRequired DocumentsResumeCover LetterHiring Range$19.00 per hourThe salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
