This in-person role works closely with Engineering, Quality, and Production leadership to troubleshoot technical issues, optimize machining strategies, and ensure repeatable, high-precision manufacturing performance. Requires occasional travel to PHT's Redlands, CA location for training and to provide support.WHAT YOU'LL DOPerform full setups on complex CNC lathe jobs including tooling selection, offsets, workholding, and program verificationServe as technical escalation point for complex lathe machining issuesRun multi-operation parts with tight tolerances, critical surface finishes, and challenging materialsTroubleshoot machining, tooling, and quality issues; suggest and implement corrective actions, as neededOptimize feeds, speeds, chip control, and tool life to improve cycle time and consistencyApply GD&T and datum structure to determine workholding strategy, setup sequence, and inspection approachIdentify tolerance stack-up risks and escalate manufacturability concerns when process capability may not meet print intent/requirementsConduct advanced in-process inspections using precision measurement equipmentSupport first article builds, engineering releases, and new product introductionDocument setups, tooling strategies, and standard work to improve repeatability across shiftsMentor Level I and II machinists through hands-on coachingMonitor process performance and take action to prevent recurring defects and meet production requirementsCollaborate with Engineering and Quality on fixture improvements and process capability effortsPerform preventive maintenance tasks and identify early machine performance issuesMaintain and improve 5S standards for tooling, workholding, and setup readiness within assigned machines or work cellParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on scrap reduction, setup reduction, and throughputAdhere to PHT's QMS WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FORRequired5+ years CNC lathe machining experience or equivalent advanced technical capabilitProven ability to independently complete complex setups and troubleshoot production issuesAdvanced blueprint interpretation, including GD&T application, to machining strategy and inspection planningAdvanced metrology proficiency and ability to validate critical featureExperience optimizing tooling and improving process stabilityAbility to mentor and lead developing machinistsAbility to document and standardize setup best practicesStrong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skillsCommitment to safety, quality, and standard workU.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required in accordance with ITAR regulations PreferredCitizen / Swiss-type lathe experienceMulti-axis or live tooling experienceExperience supporting first article or process validation activitiesFixture or tooling design input experienceParticipation in lean or continuous improvement initiatives Safety ResponsibilitiesFollow all safety procedures and machine guarding requirementsProper use of required PPE including safety glasses and protective equipmentIdentify and report unsafe conditions or equipment concerns immediatelyFollow lockout/tagout procedures Pay Range: $40-50 per hour depending on experienceSchedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week (overtime available)Company DescriptionSince 1989, Precision Hermetic Technology has manufactured high quality glass-to-metal seal hermetic products for a wide variety of customers including aerospace, medical, military, instrumentation, and more.Company DescriptionSince 1989, Precision Hermetic Technology has manufactured high quality glass-to-metal seal hermetic products for a wide variety of customers including aerospace, medical, military, instrumentation, and more.
