Project Controls Director

Role: Project Controls DirectorLocation: Irvine, CaliforniaSalary: $240,000-$260,000A leading industrial EPC contractor delivering large-scale renewable and energy infrastructure projects is seeking a Project Controls Director to lead project controls strategy and execution across major capital projects.This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing cost control, scheduling, forecasting, and project performance management across complex EPC projects. The successful candidate will work closely with executive leadership, project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and with accurate reporting and forecasting.Key Responsibilities:Lead the Project Controls function across multiple large-scale EPC projectsDevelop and implement best-in-class project controls systems, processes, and governanceOversee cost management, forecasting, change management, and performance reportingDirect project planning and scheduling activities, ensuring integrated project schedulesProvide strategic oversight of earned value management (EVM) and project performance metricsLead risk analysis, mitigation planning, and contingency managementPartner with project leadership to provide accurate cost and schedule forecastsEstablish standardized reporting dashboards and executive project performance reportsManage and mentor a team of project controls managers, schedulers, and cost engineersEnsure alignment between engineering, procurement, and construction schedulesSupport contract management, claim analysis, and change order evaluationDrive continuous improvement in project controls systems, tools, and methodologiesRequired Qualifications:10+ years of experience in Project Controls within EPC, industrial, energy, or infrastructure projectsProven experience supporting large capital projects ($100M+)Strong background in cost control, project scheduling, and forecastingExperience leading project controls teams across multiple projectsAdvanced knowledge of project scheduling and cost control tools (Primavera P6, cost management systems, etc.)Demonstrated experience implementing earned value management and project performance reportingStrong understanding of EPC project lifecycle and delivery modelsExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsBachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related fieldPreferred QualificationsExperience working on renewable energy, power generation, or industrial infrastructure projectsExperience with portfolio-level project controls oversightProfessional certifications such as PMP, CCP, PSP, or EVPWhy Join UsWork on large-scale renewable and industrial infrastructure projectsJoin a growing EPC contractor with a strong project pipelineCompetitive salary, bonus, and executive benefitsOpportunity to shape project controls strategy across major programs
