The team will optimize our drone process end-to-end to help enable our next-gen drone to scale to the hundreds of millions with your powerful software.You'll collaborate with Principal Engineers to design the algorithm at this scale, and guide the engineers to think big, and help them see around corners by thinking strategically. Your work will directly contribute to the overall success of the program and our scaling plans.You will manage a team of high-performing engineers that build drone services, including implementing the team processes, managing work-streams, planning sprints, grow the team through hiring, and succinctly and accurately report on progress.You will work hard, have fun, and of course, make history!This position is available onsite in Seattle, WA.Key job responsibilities- Directly manage a team of 8-10 software engineers to design and develop services that optimize drone order fulfillment- Use AI-first approaches to rapidly build and iterate a new system that will scale to support millions of drone flights per day- Develop an AI solution to identify inefficiencies in the drone order fulfillment system and work with the relevant teams to improve them- Influence and drive operational excellence best practicesExport Control LicenseThis position may require a deemed export control license for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Placement is contingent on Amazon's ability to apply for and obtain an export control license on your behalf.Basic Qualifications- 3+ years of engineering team management experience- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations- Experience partnering with product or program management teamsPreferred Qualifications- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineersAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
