You will also position parts of the unit being assembled following specifications while using knowledge gained by your experience.Position SummaryUnder minimal supervision, welds fabricated metal components on production floor. Welds are performed on parts or subassemblies where cosmetics may not be a factor. Set up gas, arc or MiG welding equipment. May position and fit basic metal components. Produces component parts to blueprint tolerances.Essential Functions of the JobMaintains welding equipment making adjustments to weld different parts or subassembliesPerforms Maintains welding equipment making adjustments to weld different parts or subassembliesPerforms various simple welding operations (i.e. pins, knuckles, joints) following blueprint weld symbols with limited supervisionMoves parts and/or workpiece manually, by crane and secures workpiece in weld fixture or table using clamps and wrenchesMaintains production quantities, efficiencies and quality on parts weldedPerforms quality control inspections and cleans welded componentsPrepares surfaces to be welded and works with blueprints to verify accuracy of pre-assembled metal components to be weldedPerforms simple measurements using devices or gauges to check workPositions or tightens braces, jacks, clamps, cable slings, or may bolt parts in position for welding or rivetingKnowledge, Skills and, Abilities (KSA's)Knowledge of basic procedures of MiG welding and cutting toolsKnowledge and understanding of basic procedures of voltage and amperage for given requirementsMust possess basic math skillsSkilled in the operation of grinders and deburring equipmentAble to perform standard measurements using a tape measure and other measurement devicesAble to weld simple assemblies with little supervisionAble to read blueprints with weld symbols and specificationsAble to lift and position fabricated metal parts manually, using a craneAble to wear personal protective equipmentAble to work overtime and/or including weekends as production schedules dictateAble to weld vertical and downEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED requiredMinimum 1 year of previous welding experienceWorking ConditionsAble to perform work in a non-climate-controlled metal manufacturing production environmentMust be able to communicate with supervisors and fellow employeesRequires (Near, Far, Depth and Color) visionMust be able to read and comprehend blueprintsMust be able to utilize, read and understand a tape measureMust be able to work in an environment with noise (with 25-decibel earplugs in) at 75-decibelsMust be able to kneel for up to 1 hourMust be able to be on his/her feet, on concrete, for 90% of their shift and an assembler must be able to walk up to 75% of their shiftMust be able to climb 13ft by way of 12-inch rung laddersMust be able to lift, push and or pull up to 40lbs and carry that weight 5ftMust be able to bend, stoop and crouchAble to work with their arms elevated for periods up to 5 minutes at a timeRelocation not available for this positionEOE Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/Disabled | Drug-Free Workplace
