Job Description SummaryWork with Senior DC Staff & Assigned Project teams to create fabrication level mass timber modeling and shop drawing content for CNC and installJob DescriptionPOSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:Able to perform all essential DC Engineer I responsibilitiesLead design development and contract drawing review for mass timber and other structural systems; manage resolution logs, request for information (RFIs), and other documentation during design development processLead/assist with document control, quality control, submittals, generating RFI’s, MEP Coordination, Meeting Minutes, and Constructability Reviews.Manage tracking of, and advocate for, design issues through initial submission to closeout and implementationAssist with internal schedule updates and projections for work relating to DC effortsUse and develop parametric modeling techniques (Autodesk Revit), and assist DC team with enhancements to create efficiencies in fabrication-level modeling, with respect to cost/schedule and mitigation of detailing/fabrication errors on current/future projectsUtilize Revit as tool to create clear and organized progression drawing sets (RFI, internal team review, AE review, and field review)Continuously enhance knowledge and expertise in 2D/3D model review via Navisworks, Revit Schedules, and review of current global/shared parametersLead/assist with CNC exports for machine language, develop proficiency in modeling (tooling, cut sequence/path, performance, tolerance)Manage model transfer and process to Fabrication TeamManage fabrication-based app integration and setupFurther develop understanding of schedule process within DC team and its broader impact on early pre-con efforts, manufacturing, fabrication sequence, and installPerform CNC cut testing review/QC as it relates to machine time and quality.Provide actionable feedback to DC and Pre-Con teams using research and data as built from previous fabrication effortsPartner with internal project team, A/E team, suppliers, other trades, and vendors on constructability. Manage documentation of all partner meetings and action itemsLead QC and review/coordination with dissimilar trades, as well as Clash resolution.Utilize structural material knowledge to refine and drive DC detailing efforts and practices.Assist senior team members with constructive feedback loops to structural and architectural consultants to enhance future projectsAdvocate ownership goals, architectural visual intent, and Timberlab fab/install; work to interpret these goals during early pre-con efforts (internal/external)Stay abreast to standards and continuously thrive to develop and improve our design/detailing standardsLead/assist with developing internal and external technical marketing materialsOther responsibilities as assignedMinimum Skills & Experience RequirementsEngineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent3-5 years of construction-related experience, or equivalentConstruction related internship experience preferredBasic computer skillsExtensive knowledge of Revit (or similar software) as a document development tool – including proven experience with parametric modelingStructural detailing and/or mass timber-specific detailing background preferredFundamental understanding of contract plans through all disciplinesAbility to read and interpret structural details, steel vendor shop drawings, non-structural shop drawings, product data, etc.Comprehensive knowledge of understanding of design and construction schedulesCNC fabrication experience (detailing, operation, etc.) is a plusEffective organizational skillsEffective written and verbal English language communication skillsAbility to use independent judgment, self-starterDrafting and advanced computer skills a plusContinued thirst for knowledge and understanding of mass timber systems, design, and project approach
