Senior Applications Engineer

The Senior Customer Solutions Engineer at Digital Dynamics Inc. is an experienced individual contributor responsible for serving as a primary technical interface between customers and DDI’s engineering teams. This role supports both pre-sale and post-sale activities, ensuring DDI’s hardware, firmware, and software solutions are effectively applied to customer applications in industrial automation and mission-critical environments.Responsibilities include working directly with customers to understand application requirements and define appropriate DDI solutions; developing and presenting technical proposals; and supporting customer adoption through training, documentation, and technical support in both remote and onsite settings. The Senior Customer Solutions Engineer collaborates closely with Software, Firmware, Electrical, Systems, and Test Engineering teams to support new features, custom solutions, and product improvements based on customer feedback. This role contributes to customer-facing technical materials such as application notes, manuals, training content, and software examples, supports trade shows and industry events, and plays a key role in capturing market and customer requirements to inform product direction. Moderate travel is required.QualificationsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field 5+ years of experience in customer-facing engineering roles within industrial automation or embedded control systems Strong understanding of industrial control systems, including I/O controllers, motion control, and functional safety concepts Experience interpreting electrical schematics, PCB documentation, and supporting commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, or Python Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and common engineering tool environments Strong ability to translate customer requirements into technical solutions and communicate effectively with engineering teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presentations Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a customer-driven environment Willingness to travel moderately to support customers and industry events Preferred QualificationsExperience with functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, EN ISO 13849-1) Experience supporting semiconductor, automation, or other mission-critical systems Familiarity with CAD environments and technical documentation tools Experience contributing to product roadmaps through customer feedback and market insights
