Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Java/React/AWS (Payments)Location: Latin America – Must work in EST hoursContract: 6 MonthsJob SummaryWe are seeking a highly experienced Senior Full Stack Software Engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, AWS, REST APIs, Kafka, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have 9–10+ years of software engineering experience, with recent and strong experience in the payments/financial services industry.This role will support the enhancement and development of a modern cloud-native SaaS platform that enables technology and service providers in the consumer bill payment space to facilitate the collection and delivery of consumer payments.The engineer will work across the full software development lifecycle, partnering with product managers, UX designers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, reliable, and high-performing applications.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, enhance, and maintain scalable full stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.Build and enhance cloud-native applications and services on AWS.Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs between frontend and backend services.Develop and support event-driven applications using Apache Kafka.Develop database solutions using PostgreSQL and Oracle, including complex SQL and Oracle stored procedures.Build responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web interfaces.Develop reusable React components and follow modern frontend architecture and design practices.Implement frontend state management using Redux, Context API, or similar technologies.Write clean, secure, maintainable, and well-tested code.Develop automated tests including unit, component, integration, and end-to-end testing.Collaborate with Product Managers, UX Designers, Architects, and Engineering teams throughout the SDLC.Contribute to the technical roadmap and continuous improvement of the Bill Pay platform.Improve application performance, scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence.Follow Agile development methodologies and participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and design sessions.Collaborate with geographically distributed engineering teams and other Corporate Payments engineering groups.Identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, reusable services, and development standards.Required Qualifications9–10+ years of professional software engineering experience preferred.Recent and strong Payments Industry / Financial Services experience is required.Previous Mastercard experience is a strong plus.Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.Strong experience developing modern web applications using React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.Strong knowledge of HTML5 and CSS3.Experience designing and consuming REST APIs.Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications in AWS Cloud.Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.Strong experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle Database.Strong SQL development skills and experience with Oracle stored procedures.Experience with frontend state management such as Redux or Context API.Strong understanding of object-oriented design, software architecture, cloud-native development, and secure coding practices.Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or similar tools.Strong understanding of responsive design, accessibility, web performance, and frontend best practices.Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced Agile environment.Must be able to work the client's EST business hours.Preferred QualificationsExperience building and supporting cloud-native SaaS applications.Experience with consumer bill payment, credit card, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or payment processing platforms.Experience working with financial services or payments technology.Experience with design systems and reusable component libraries.Experience working with geographically distributed engineering teams.Prior experience with Mastercard or similar global payments organizations.Technical SkillsBackend: Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, MicroservicesFrontend: React, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, Redux, Context APICloud: AWS, Cloud-Native Architecture, SaaSMessaging: Apache Kafka, Event-Driven ArchitectureDatabases: PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL, Stored ProceduresTesting: JUnit, Jest, React Testing Library, CypressMethodology: Agile, SDLC, CI/CD, Secure Software DevelopmentInterview ProcessRound 1 – Vendor Screening: 30 minutes via Microsoft TeamsRound 2 – Mastercard Screening: 30–45 minutes via Microsoft TeamsRound 3 – Client Technical Interview: 45–60 minutes, including live coding exercises
