Tension Envelope CorporationElectricianDepartment: MaintenanceReports To: Maintenance Lead/ Maintenance SupervisorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSummaryThe Electricians is responsible for the installation and repair of electrical systems and components, wiring, electrical fixtures, and electrical construction. At the direction of supervisor, assists with maintenance, monitoring, and performance of preventive maintenance on all equipment including, but not limited to, electrical, heat exchanger, HVAC, emergency backup systems and hot water systems.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other Duties May Be Assigned.Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, while staying consistent with specifications, safety, and local electrical codes.Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, buss, busbar, electrical feeders, power systems and/or switchgear.Repairs faulty equipment or systems.Work from ladders, scaffolds, equipment, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures.Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.Ability to read, understand and work from all types of drawings, prints and system diagrams with specifications for installation.Proficiency in reading hardware, troubleshooting electrical systems, and working knowledge of the range of voltages.Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required.Maintains good housekeeping in maintenance area.Keeps accurate records of repair work, changes, etc.Actively participates in and supports lean activities.Observes all safety rules and regulations.Assist with required scheduled maintenance on the machines.Performs related work as required.QualificationsQualified candidate must possess a strong mechanical background. This position requires basic math skills, add, subtract, multiply and divide using all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Electricians must have the ability to handle stress because of time constraints, apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. They must have the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Electricians must have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos as well as the ability to write simple correspondence. Electricians must have the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization. Electricians must be able to make decisions due to changes in the plant environment, etc.Work Environment & Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
