Position Title Employment / Benefits Manager Job DutiesThe Employment/Benefits Manager serves as the subject matter expert for all employee benefit programs and for the administration of the college's recruitment and hiring processes. This position oversees the administration and/or coordination of all medical and dental plans, life insurance and supplemental benefit programs, COBRA, KPERS, and the college's 403(b) plan. Additionally, the role is responsible for managing the annual benefits open enrollment process and handling all workers' compensation claims.The Employment/Benefits Manager conducts new employee orientations, serves as a liaison between employees and insurance carriers as needed, communicates benefit plan information to employees, and supports the consistency of employment, payroll and benefits-related data and processes. This role is also responsible for supervising the Employment Coordinator, Benefits Specialist, and department student workers.Butler Community College offers a very generous benefits package. Strong organizational and customer service skills required.B. Ability to handle confidential information required.C. Ability to plan, coordinate, and implement assigned responsibilities and recognize problems as they arise required.D. Ability to work under minimal supervision and make independent decisions required.E. Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with a diverse college community required.F. Ability to communicate effectively with governmental agencies and other organizations required.G. Capable of efficiently balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.H. Solid knowledge of benefit and employment law.I. Strong analytical skills.Required experienceA. Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).B. Prior supervisory experience required.C. Three or more years experience in Human Resources/benefits administration experience is required.D. Prior experience working within a comprehensive Human Resources Information System.Required educational backgroundA. Bachelor's degree required.B. Human Resources certification preferred.
