Senior Estimator
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Senior Estimator position at Parkway is an advanced role within the Estimating and Preconstruction Services team, building upon the foundational skills and experiences gained as an Estimator I and II. This position is pivotal in supporting the overall objectives of various business units by providing expert estimating services for larger and more complex projects. Ideal candidates are self-motivated, technically proficient in multiple disciplines, and possess strong organizational and communication skills.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESPrimary Duties:Manage the preparation of detailed cost estimates for large-scale construction projects, typically exceeding $20,000,000.Maintain relationships with subcontractors and clients.Participate in meetings with clients to review bid proposals.Lead and coordinate a project team of junior estimators, providing guidance and support.Provide training and mentorship to Estimator I and II team members.Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and operations personnel to gather comprehensive project details and specifications.Communicate specific questions, including RFIs related to project plans and specifications, to relevant parties.Assist department leadership with managing day-to-day activities, including but not limited to, bid calendar schedules and bid day assistance.Additional Duties:Interpret Geotechnical and Phase 1-3 asbestos reports.Understand standard contract types and various contractual terms and conditions.Assemble accurate and timely estimates and ROMs for complex projects.Participate in bid review meetings to ensure the accuracy and compliance of estimates.Assist in maintaining unit pricing and a database for material and labor costings.Support the development and maintenance of the subcontractor and supplier database.Attend and lead off-site pre-bid meetings as required by supervisor, including occasional overnight travel.Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCEExtensive knowledge of construction materials, methods, logistics, and scheduling used in the commercial construction industry, including new construction, tenant improvements, and remodels.Proficiency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and PlanSwift or similar software.Familiarity with various bid room platforms such as Pantera, PlanHub, BlueBook, and BuildingConnected.SKILLS & ABILITIESExcellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a focus on Excel worksheets and formulas for data analysis and calculations.Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear and professional interactions.Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates.Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.Competency to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced work environment.Ability to manage various challenges with a multitasked position from estimation management to client interactions.Ability to lead a project team of junior Estimators.
