Job Description OverviewApplicants Must Be US Citizens and Complete Residency RequirementsThis role is based at a military medical facility in Fort Benning, GA.Emergency Medicine Physician - Full-TimeWe are in search of a qualified and experienced Emergency Medicine Physician to begin work as soon as possible, ideally by spring or summer of 2026. The selected candidate will handle a diverse array of cases, often characterized by ambiguous symptoms or overlapping medical issues, serving a patient demographic that includes both children and the elderly. This position demands a high level of skill, insight, and independent judgment to ensure accurate diagnosis, effective treatment, and appropriate referrals in a dynamic emergency department environment.Ideal candidates should be Board Certified in emergency medicine or have completed residency training along with four years of experience in an emergency room setting.Salary range: $123,000 - $350,000Benefits:Fort Benning is situated within the "Tri-Community" area, which includes Columbus, GA; Fort Benning, GA; and Phenix City, AL. Additionally, the beautiful Historic District and the stunning Gulf shores of Florida and Blue Ridge Mountains are just a few hours away.ResponsibilitiesPrimary DutiesTriage and Diagnosis: Acts as a Medical Officer in the Emergency Room (ER), assessing patients with a variety of complex conditions. Utilizes significant independent judgment to accurately diagnose and treat individuals presenting with ambiguous or overlapping symptoms.Critical Decision-Making: Makes urgent, critical decisions and initiates treatment for challenging emergency situations, including heart attacks, head injuries, lacerations, seizures, and other life-threatening conditions.Direct Patient Treatment: Addresses the physical needs of patients (e.g., administering IV fluids for heat exhaustion, prescribing medications) or identifies when to refer patients to specialists for further evaluation and treatment.Surgical Procedures: Conducts minor surgical interventions as necessary, such as incision and drainage (I&D) of abscesses, hemorrhoids, and suturing of lacerations.Leadership and Supervision: Guides and oversees other medical staff in patient care and treatment, serving as a Senior Specialist and mentor within the department.Medication Management: Prescribes and administers appropriate medications and treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of each patient.Record Keeping: Diligently documents all pertinent medical information and patient history in the Composite Health Care System (CHCS).Performs additional duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired QualificationsUS Citizenship is mandatory.Education: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from an accredited institution.Residency: Completion of an accredited residency program in emergency medicine.Experience:Demonstrated experience as a Board Certified emergency medicine physician or residency-trained with four years of emergency room experience (candidates with Family Medicine or potentially Internal Medicine backgrounds may also be considered if they meet the experience requirement).Postgraduate clinical experience in emergency medicine is essential.Licensure and Certification:A valid state medical license and current registration to practice.Board certification or eligibility from ABEM or AOBEM.CPR certification is required.Certifications in ACLS, PALS, and ATLS are highly preferred.
