The Preventative Care Medical Assistant (PCMA) provides clinical outreach support to the patient care team directed towards the prevention of disease and promotion of health using professional clinical support for quality patient care. This position works as part of a care delivery team and works closely with providers and other team members to help ensure the delivery of high quality patient care and addressing care gaps. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): Bilingual in Spanish and English (language testing may be required)
As a newly hired Preventative Care Medical Assistant (PCMA), you will receive a one-time New Hire Recruitment and Retention Incentive payment of $1,500 on your first paycheck. The incentive will be prorated based on the position's FTE status.
As the PCMA, other duties will include:
Preventative Care Support
Provides outreach to patients with preventive care or disease specific testing and schedules visits that are needed.
Supports the patient and team to provide education around preventive care and disease specific measures.
Coordinates closely with other preventive care staff within Multnomah County and with Coordinated Care Organization partners in order to increase patient engagement and completion of needed testing and services.
Services are provided in Spanish and English.
Team/Provider Support
Supports back office clinic flow by direct provider support as needed including rooming patients, ordering labs as directed, giving immunizations. Assists clinicians with procedures.
Obtains comprehensive vital signs, uses appropriate screening tools, and collects clinical data from patients. Prepares patients for exams, and procedures, including equipment set-up and specimen collection. Communicates normal lab results.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be as noted below. All non-traditional education, training and experience will be evaluated.
Education/Experience/Training: Requires graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
Certification: Certification through a nationally recognized Medical Assistant certification program, such as AAMA, AMT, NCCT or CCMA, is required.
CPR certification is required (valid CPR certification must be provided upon hire)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): Bilingual in Spanish and English (language testing may be required)

However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. Knowledge of principles, and procedures of record-keeping and reporting
Ability to make observations concerning patients' general health conditions
Ability to take and record vital signs and perform assigned laboratory tests

Multnomah County COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement: To protect the health of the community and employees, Multnomah County requires employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption as a qualification of employment.
