The Cafe Leader leads the Assistant Cafe Leader, Shift Leads and Baristas to deliver an exceptional coffee experience and beverage with the utmost hospitality and kindness to every customer in our retail café. The Cafe Leader is fully responsible for the operations, customer, and employee experience and for providing quality coffee beverages and coffee knowledge. Your leadership will require that you act with integrity & respect, promote a safe, clean, and healthy work environment, be fiscally responsible, produce quality work, be ethical, and are passionate about coffee. We love coffee and want you to love it too. This is a working leadership/management position for a person who enjoys engaging with customers and staff while creating quality crafted beverages. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage the daily operations of the cafe and complete tasks related to staff training, staff management, and customer service. They should be a confident, people-person and be able to share their best practices to onboard new employees. This candidate should possess strong leadership skills and be able to organize and assign duties to staff to maintain the efficient functioning of the cafe. Maintain Quality Standards: Provide ongoing coaching and training to ensure consistent adherence to our high-quality standards across all food and beverage offerings. Hands-On Engagement: Engage directly in cafe operations, working on bar and floor alongside the team to maintain a deep connection to our work and identify areas for improvement. Streamline Procedures: Identify, develop, and improve daily SOP workflows to increase clarity and consistency for team members. Scheduling: Develop and maintain a well-thought-out work schedule that addresses individual, team, and cafe requirements while managing labor costs effectively. Support Recruitment and Training: Collaborate in the selection and onboarding of qualified candidates, and actively contribute to their training. Additionally, facilitate ongoing in-store training sessions to educate team members about our products and services. Efficient Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the cafe smoothly and accurately, including back-of-house duties like ordering and maintaining retail visuals. Prioritize Safety and Compliance: Champion a safe and respectful workplace environment, ensuring strict adherence to health, food safety, and overall safety protocols and regulations. You Have: 5+ years of retail/hospitality experience with a strong preference for coffee, food, and beverage. 3+ years of leadership experience leading a team of 10+ people Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Experience providing professional development, counseling, and feedback Strong initiative, organization, self-management, and decision-making skills Knowledge of POS systems and ability to troubleshoot technical issues Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively Knowledge of food safety regulations and ability to ensure compliance Experience in interviewing, hiring, training, and supervising staff members Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail A flexible schedule and are available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
