Fixture Designer
Title: Manufacturing Engineer (Fixture Design)Location : Bolingbrook, IL 60440Pay Rate : $40–$50/hour (based on experience)Hours : 40 hours/weekHire Type : Contract (6 months, potential to extend)Summary : Sterling Engineering is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization in Bolingbrook, IL to hire a Manufacturing Engineer with strong fixture design and layout experience. This is a contract opportunity focused on supporting production through the design and implementation of fixtures, equipment, and process improvements. This role will play a key part in driving efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities : Design and develop new fixtures using CREO to support manufacturing processesCreate 2D layouts using AutoCAD for production floor and equipment planningLead and support manufacturing engineering projects from concept through implementationDevelop and improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and costSupport new product launches including fixture design, cell layout, and process validationTroubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actionsApply lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement initiativesCollaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teamsAssist with documentation, work instructions, and training as neededQualifications : Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related Engineering field preferred5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong 3D CAD experience (CREO required)Experience with 2D CAD (AutoCAD preferred) for layoutsProven experience designing fixtures involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electric motorsExperience implementing lean manufacturing principlesStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesPreferred Skills Experience with process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)Background in equipment design or automationExperience supporting new product introduction (NPI)#INC1
