Environmental Health Safety Coordinator

EHS Coordinator – Automotive (Tier 2 Manufacturing)Location: Grand Prairie, TexasReports To: HR Director Role SummaryThe EHS Coordinator is responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for a Tier 2 automotive manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on role in a startup plant environment, accountable for regulatory compliance, employee safety, environmental permitting and reporting, and supporting production ramp-up in a highly automated manufacturing operation. The role serves as the primary site owner for EHS, working independently while partnering closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and leadership to build a strong safety and compliance culture from the ground up.Key Responsibilities• Establish and maintain site Environmental, Health, and Safety management systems. • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable state and local regulations. • Fully own environmental permitting, reporting, and regulatory documentation. • Conduct hazard identification, JSAs, and risk assessments. • Support safety integration for highly automated production lines and robotics. • Lead incident investigations and corrective actions. • Manage hazardous waste, chemicals, SDS, and spill prevention programs. • Develop and deliver EHS training for employees and contractors. • Support customer-driven EHS audits and regulatory inspections. • Support equipment installation, FAT/SAT, and production ramp-up from an EHS perspective. • Track and report EHS KPIs. • Provide off-shift or weekend support as directed by the Plant Manager.Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, or related field. • 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment. • Startup or launch experience. • Strong working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations. • Experience supporting automated or equipment-intensive operations.Mandatory Experience & Knowledge• OSHA compliance and regulatory inspection support. • EPA permitting, reporting, and environmental compliance ownership. • Hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation. • EHS training development and delivery. • Contractor safety management.Preferred Qualifications• CSP, ASP, CIH, or equivalent certification. • Automotive manufacturing experience. • ISO 14001 or ISO 45001 exposure. • Capital project and equipment installation support experience.
