Assist with JCAHO compliance, Infection control Practice.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participate in staff selection process. Interview candidates as needed. Schedule days off, holidays and vacations, ensuring that facility's needs are met in accordance with hours and position control
Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties
Patient and customer rounding with Directors
Plan and coordinate project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained
Ensure that staff receive proper orientation, initial training and ongoing education
Ensure duty lists are revised and current at all times. Review duty lists with regular and relief associates periodically
Assists nursing staff by transporting patients, locating equipment, obtaining charts and/or other information as required.
Logs Transportation associates into Bed-Tracking zones, prepares beepers/keys and determines that all cleaning zones are adequately staffed. Logs into the Bed-Tracking interface and prints daily census.
Prioritize bed needs based on: Bed Control needs, length of time discharge. Changes "routine" discharge assignment to "Next Discharge".
Contacts the EVS supervisor if Bed-Tracking targets are not being met by associates.
Answers all calls within three rings and properly identifies oneself, and the department with a customer friendly tone of voice. Receives and answers the department Hotline and Bed-Tracking telephones. Dispatches associates to respond to customer service request.
Assures that dispatch and hotline phones are transferred of forwarded to a "live voice" phone when leaving the dispatch area.
Attends daily role calls/ Huddles at the start of the shift. Attends monthly department meetings and training sessions (Does well= attends 90% of meetings)
Transports patients throughout the hospital campus by wheelchair and/or gurney and specimens to lab in a timely and safe manner.
Demonstrates safe practices when transporting patients and assures safe delivery of equipment, charts, specimens, etc.
Operates equipment and performs all assigned work in a safe manner.
Demonstrates the correct application of the principles of infection control
Maintains work load logs and records and communicates clearly and accurately
Maintains gurneys and wheelchairs in working order and documents repairs
Gathers data for and calls in daily productivity reports; prepares and turns in biweekly report.
Turns in all required paperwork/documentation on a daily or as scheduled basis.
Advises Department Director of departmental needs and/or problems and assists with departmental management as needed or requested.
Assists Support Services staff as requested during time or slower periods.
Adheres to established hospital/departmental policies and procedures, objectives, Quality Assessment and Improvement Program, legal, safely, environmental, infection control standards and patient's bill of rights.
Maintains confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients and health care team activities.
Exhibits a positive attitude and professional behavior in all contracts with public, staff, health care team workers, physicians, patients and patient families.
Collaborates with supervisor to identify own career and educational needs. Attends all required Courses/classes as directed.
In times of emergency or crisis, helps nursing and other staff as needed or directed. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Use a proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality assurance concerns. Timely follow-up is required
Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings on a regular schedule. Attend ongoing staff development and training courses as offered by company and facility.
Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential
Discipline associates when necessary according to progressive disciplinary guidelines
Monitor associates' attendance and take proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed
Keep records and appropriate log books current and maintain all necessary documentation. Monitor service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action to client concerns/comments
Participate in facility Quality Assurance Program as required. Ensure high quality Transport service is maintained in areas of assignment. Perform Quality Assurance Inspections as assigned with Unit Directors.
Assign equipment to staff. Monitor daily equipment use, Ensure that all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times
Prepare associate disciplinary and variance reports and conduct follow-up investigation as needed, reporting findings to appropriate assistant director. Prepare disciplinary action notices and conduct follow-up as required. Conduct disciplinary meetings with associates with guidance from appropriate assistant director.
Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow-up
Participate in associate performance evaluations and make recommendations as needed. Conduct associate performance evaluations with guidance and approval from appropriate assistant director
Participate in department safety and maintain a safe work environment at all times. Report all unsafe equipment and acts to appropriate assistant director
Assure that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times
Handle special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned
Assist Transporters on an as needed basis
Ensure office, storage and closets are clean, organized, well maintained and professional in appearance at all times
Edits employees timecards utilizing Kronos
Other duties as assigned
POSITION REQUIREMENTSA. EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent
B. Qualifications/ExperienceMinimum 3 year's experience in a leadership, supervisor, or lead role in a hospital setting.
C. Special Skills/KnowledgeProficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
