Participate directly in Pediatric Gastroenterology residency training. Participate in continuing education programs in Pediatric Gastroenterology for both theclinical faculty and for practicing physicians in the area. Provide a role model for students and residents as a teacher and practicing PediatricGastroenterology. Serve as a mentor for Pediatric Clerkship students. Present at conferences for the Department of Pediatrics, such as Grand Rounds, Residentand Clerkship Seminars. Regularly attend departmental meetings and educational seminars.Service Demonstrates, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIUSchool of Medicine. Provides excellent service to both internal and external customersthrough collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity andaccountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement Set an example to future practitioners of highly-skilled and conscientious practice ofPediatric Gastroenterology that is balanced with self-education and other academicactivities. Assist in the coordination of multiple disciplinary clinics for the care of PediatricGastroenterology patients including outreach clinics. Maintain a clinical practice in Pediatric Gastroenterology in order to enhance clinicalproficiency. These services will be provided in accordance with the terms of departmental,hospital and SIU HealthCare policies and guidelines. Participate in peer review for assessing clinical practice skills for faculty within the Division. Represent the Division in regional, state, and national matters pertaining to the field ofPediatric Gastroenterology. Attend national meetings and symposia in Pediatric Gastroenterology and related fields forthe purpose of contribution, acquisition of additional knowledge, and as an example toother physicians. Serve on committees in national, regional, and state societies pertaining to PediatricGastroenterology. Represent the Division and/or Department on committees as requested by the DepartmentChairman.Administration Assist the Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology in coordinating and directing theresidency program. Assist in the assessment of manpower and education needs in the specialty of PediatricGastroenterology in central and southern Illinois and develop education programs to meetthese needs.Research Actively engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment ofthe Division. Provide a role model for students and residents as an investigator. Seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support research.
