Then this is the career for you!Description of WorkThis position involves receiving, screening, and investigating all reports of neglect, abuse and exploitation of children. It further involves assessing, diagnosing, planning, and implementing treatment plans focused on prevention of foster care and rehabilitation through services provided to intact families in their own homes. Applicants should be skilled in crisis intervention and decision-making, as well as the ability to deal with hostile clients, and capable of legal intervention involving law enforcement and the court system. Good communication skills are essential. Applicant must be capable of acquiring and applying a thorough knowledge of the laws governing protective services. Position is subject to after-hours duty to provide emergency services. Requires the ability to work effectively in a teamwork setting and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with team members, community professionals, and agency leaders. Requires a valid driver's license as well as dependable transportation. Must possess and be able to demonstrate intermediate level of personal computer skills.Minimum Education and ExperienceMaster's degree from an accredited school of social work and one year of social work experience; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; or Master's degree in a counseling field and two years of social work or counseling experience; or a four-year degree in a human services field or related curriculum and three years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and four years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework, group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.One year of work experience can be credited for completion of the social work collaborative.Supplemental InformationPREFERENCES: Prefer applicants with BSW or MSW Degree; or master in human services degree with substantially equivalent social work courses with social work experience in a county department of social services.
