Sr OKTA ENGINEER

Senior Okta Engineer. This is a 6 month contract to hire, REMOTE role. The reason this position exists is to support, enhance, and secure the organization's Identity and Access Management (IAM) ecosystem, with a strong focus on Okta administration, integrations, automation, and compliance. This role ensures secure access, regulatory alignment, and a seamless user experience across cloud, SaaS, and on-prem environments. Okta certifications are highly desired, along with experience in the healthcare industry.What You Bring to the Role (Ideal Experience) 8+ years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), including 5+ years of hands-on Okta administration and engineeringDeep expertise in Okta Workforce Identity, including SSO, MFA, Lifecycle Management (LCM), and Universal Directory (UD)Strong knowledge of authentication and authorization protocols such as SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and SCIMProven experience integrating Okta with enterprise platforms such as Microsoft 365, AWS, Salesforce, and ServiceNowHands-on experience with Okta APIs, SDKs, workflows, inline hooks, event hooks, and custom expressionsStrong understanding of identity governance concepts including provisioning, de-provisioning, RBAC, and least-privilege accessExperience with directory services such as Active Directory, Azure AD, and LDAPProficiency in scripting or programming languages such as PowerShell, Python, or JavaScriptExperience supporting high-availability, production IAM environmentsStrong troubleshooting skills related to authentication, federation, and provisioningExperience with audit preparation, evidence collection, and identity control validationAbility to monitor Okta System Logs and integrate with SIEM solutions for ITDR alerting and detectionExperience designing least-privilege admin roles and governance for Okta API token usageVPN and RADIUS integration experienceExcellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environmentsPreferred Experience: Okta certifications (Okta Certified Administrator or Consultant)Workforce and Partner Identity implementationsFamiliarity with Zero Trust security modelsExperience with infrastructure-as-code and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD)Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NISTExperience working in hybrid or multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)Exposure to PAM or IGA tools such as SailPoint, CyberArk, or DelineaHealthcare industry experience preferredWhat You'll Do (Skills Used in this Position) Administer, support, and optimize Okta IAM platforms to ensure secure and seamless accessDesign and implement secure authentication and authorization flows for cloud, SaaS, and on-prem applicationsDevelop and maintain Okta integrations, workflows, and API-based automationsLead incident root cause analysis efforts and recommend enhancements to prevent future issuesMonitor system logs and security events, integrating Okta with SIEM platforms for proactive threat detectionDesign and enforce least-privilege access models and admin role governanceSupport audit activities, security reviews, and compliance initiativesCollaborate with security, infrastructure, and application teams to support IAM strategy and executionMentor junior engineers and lead IAM design discussions with stakeholdersAssist with ongoing security and compliance reviews
