Associate, Real Estate Credit

SummaryBlue Light Capital is seeking to hire an associate to join the firm’s Real Estate Credit team. The position will allow a highly talented and motivated individual to gain hands-on experience executing real estate credit investments at a growing investment firm based in New York City. Access to highly experienced senior management provides the ability to gain unparalleled experience, along with the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to both investment performance and company culture, while also taking on significant responsibilities in the execution and management of investments.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe position’s responsibilities will include: (i) screening and analyzing potential investment opportunities, (ii) financial modeling and underwriting, (iii) conducting highly in-depth market research and property analysis, including market report analysis and broker interaction, (iv) heavy involvement in the due diligence, legal review, and loan closing processes, (v) drafting investment memos, and (vi) providing general transaction support. The candidate will also be involved in the firm’s marketing strategy and the asset management of the loan portfolio, which will include interacting with third party servicers, legal teams, and Sponsors to monitor investment performance and prepare monthly and quarterly investment reports.Qualifications2-4 years of prior experience in the real estate industry, debt and lending experience preferredFinancial modeling and underwriting proficiency, including modeling property level cash flows and debt/equity waterfallsExperience analyzing and underwriting various property types including multifamily, industrial, retail, hospitality, office, student housing, residential, self storage, land, etc.Highly detail oriented with exceptional writing skills and organizational abilitiesSelf-motivated, with strong time management abilities and the strong ability to effectively prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced environmentStrong understanding of the US commercial real estate markets, with ability to articulate thoughts, opinions, recommendations in a clear and concise mannerExpertise in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and ArgusStrong interpersonal, communication and networking skillsContactInterested candidates should submit their resume directly to Jeremy Burton - jburton@bluelightre.com
