Organization OverviewThe Electron Microscopy Resource Center offers state-of-the-art instruments and competent expertise to support scientists with a broad range of electron microscopy (EM) studies, such as sample preparation, transmission and scanning electron microscopy image acquisition and interpretation. Our staff is very experienced in assisting with the design of EM experiments, in choosing the most appropriate approach for each project and in the interpretation of results. Basic services include sample preparation for a variety of experimental models which includes but is not limited to bacteria, yeast, cells in culture/suspension, ants, C. elegans, Drosophila, zebrafish, and mice, using conventional chemical fixation, microwave techniques, high-pressure freezing, and freeze-substitution. We offer semi-thin and ultra-thin sectioning, staining and EM imaging. Advanced services include immuno-labeling at the EM level, correlative light and electron microscopy techniques and the development of protocols for special research needs. If required, scientists can be trained in the operation of instruments and methodologies or alternatively, EMRC staff can perform the experiments upon request. The EMRC is open to all University researchers and to non-Rockefeller University researchers, depending on capacity.OverviewWe are seeking a Research Support Assistant to support electron microscopy imaging and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the Electron Microscopy Resource Center, including laboratory, administrative, and facility support duties.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include:Prepare biological and/or material samples for transmission and scanning electron microscopy analysisSupport daily laboratory operations and housekeepingAssist with administrative tasks to support the activites of the Electron Microscopy Resource CenterPerform additional related duties as assignedQualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in biology or a related fieldAffinity for tasks requiring fine motor skillsStrong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a teamWillingness to learnAbility to follow protocols and maintain a detailed laboratory notebookDetail-oriented, focused, and highly motivatedPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:* Prior experience with histology and basic biochemical techniques, and experience with microscopy highly desirable.The Rockefeller University is an equal opportunity employer - veterans/individuals with disabilities. The hiring range provided represents The Rockefeller University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Compensation Range: MinUSD $50,000.00/Yr.Compensation Range: MaxUSD $60,000.00/Yr.
