Today, Kelly Services is searching for an entry level long-term contract Laboratory Technician to join the team at a Fortune 500 Chemical Company in Baytown, TX, to perform products technology testing.**Responsibilities**Perform standardized routine analyses by diligently following written proceduresOperate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and associated computer systems Produce SQC charts and identify abnormal results when they occurWork under the technical direction of a Laboratory Leader Develop / document / revise laboratory proceduresInterface with clients Operations when necessaryMaintain data collection records and transfer data to computer systemsEnsure raw material and finished product quality through quality control testing and compliance to site quality assurance proceduresMaintain and calibrate equipment systems to support the testing process Review test methods for compliance to industry standardsMaintain LIMS and data management systems Provide timely and accurate data to optimize site manufacturing efficienciesEnsure compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory standards for health, safety and environmental requirements through the adherence to all safety and OIMS programs.**Requirements**Associates Degree in science related discipline or at least two years or related experience degreeMust have one year work experience which requires high level of multi-tasking skills Must be able to understand and follow written proceduresMust have a basic understanding of polymer tests, including melt index, density, and film appearanceMust have a basic understanding of computer systems and networksMust have basic mechanical skillsMust be able to work shift workMust be dependable and available for call-out and overtime workMust have good verbal and written communication skills, and be able to accurately record/ transcribe dataMust be self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervisionMust be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time 8 hoursMust be able to lift/move cylinder s weighing approximately 5 to 15 lbs.Must be able to repair and maintain lab equipmentMust have extensive knowledge of lab equipment and computer systemsMust have knowledge of plant/site operations to optimize and prioritize special requirementsAbility to obtain and interpret data of the analysisAs part of our promise to talent, Kelly supports those who work with us through a variety of benefits, perks, and work-related resources.
