Staff Materials Engineer, Solar Cell Chemicals
What To ExpectTesla is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished Staff Materials Engineer to support our Solar Cell manufacturing. You will be responsible for developing and qualifying solvents and gases needed for ingot, wafer and solar cell manufacturing. Responsibilities include driving engineering tradeoffs, including cost, availability and scale-up. Experience with semi-conductor grade solvents (typically acids or bases for cleaning/etching) and gases (for doping, deposition, and controlled atmospheres) critical for purity, yield, and efficiency is required.What You'll DoEvaluate and qualify high purity solvents/gases used for ingot, wafer and cell manufacturingEngage with and manage external partners and vendors for sourcing and manufacturing supportSupport process development and optimization for pilot and manufacturing processesConduct Failure Analysis (FA) to understand and correct ingot/wafer/cell failures/defects attributed to chemical, process and design shortcomings.
