This is a fantastic role for a driven individual contributor who is looking to greatly expand their knowledge within a multi-faceted insurance company (P&C, life, health) that has exposure to SEC, GAAP, and statutory accounting. Kemper has a proven track record for developing its people for higher roles within the department as well as other functions and across its operating entities. We seek a detail-oriented professional to assist with a wide range of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions associated with Kemper’s financial reporting. Position Responsibilities: Prepare quarterly and annual Statutory financial statements to meet regulatory reporting requirementsPrepare, review and maintain accurate statutory financial data and financial statements in accordance with NAIC Statutory Accounting principles (SAP) for Property and Casualty (P&C) InsuranceAdvise with operational segments on accounting treatmentPerform and review completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings via preparation of assigned quarterly and annual statutory financial statement pages and schedules.Work with internal and external auditors to provide necessary supportPresent analytical schedules, variance analyses, and provide support for internal requestsActively identify, lead, manage, and complete process improvement projectsAssist with state filing requirements as neededAdditional responsibilities, as assigned Position Qualifications:BA/BS degree in Accounting3+ years of experience in financial reporting P&C Insurance / financial servicesPerform and review completion of the quarterly and annual regulatory filings for multiple companies via preparation of assigned quarterly and annual statutory financial statement pages and schedules.Familiarity with statutory accounting principles, familiarity with US GAAP and SEC filing requirementsExperience in Workday Financial Management is a plusExperience navigating a large ERP environmentProficiency in MS Office products - intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS ExcelProgressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutionsExcellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staffThis position is remoteThe range for this position is $68,000 to $113,400. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
