Position Overview Start Date: Immediate Compensation: $74,000–$80,000 annually, depending on experience Status: Full-Time, Exempt Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–6:30 PM Locations: Multiple elementary and middle school sites throughout Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, and Oakland See all program sites: http://map.ymcayscholars.org Position Benefits Free YMCA gym membership Medical, dental, and vision insurance Paid holidays and paid time off YMCA retirement plan Continuous leadership development and professional training Room to grow—real opportunities for advancement within the YMCA What You'll Do As Program Manager, you'll be the driving force behind program excellence across multiple school sites—developing staff, strengthening operations, and keeping quality at the center of everything. Here's what your days will include: Mentor, coach, and develop Site Coordinators, Group Leaders, and volunteers across multiple school sites Spearhead program quality initiatives that align with school district and state requirements Steer daily operations, staffing, scheduling, and site support Own program budgets, purchasing, and operational resources Forge strong partnerships with school administrators, district leaders, and community organizations Dig into attendance, enrollment, compliance, and program outcome data using Airtable, Google Workspace, and other systems Elevate family engagement and make sure every family receives exceptional communication and support Recruit, onboard, train, and grow staff in collaboration with YMCA Human Resources Champion YMCA fundraising events, strategic initiatives, and organizational priorities Troubleshoot operational challenges while continuously strengthening systems and program quality What We're Looking For Required Qualifications A minimum of 3 years of experience in youth development, education, or expanded learning A minimum of 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience 48 college units or a passing score on the California Instructional Aide Exam Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation for regular site visits Ability to clear DOJ/FBI background checks CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certification within 30 days (provided) The Right Fit Will Also: Motivate and grow high-performing teams Cultivate trusted relationships with schools, families, and community partners Lead with emotional intelligence, professionalism, and accountability Use data to drive decisions that lift program quality Blend big-picture strategy with hands-on operational leadership Stay organized and focused while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Communicate with clarity and confidence—whether with staff, families, district personnel, or senior leadership Show up with initiative, resilience, and a genuine commitment to getting better every day Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform theThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
