Database Administrator (SQL)

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage and support enterprise database environments with a primary focus on Microsoft SQL Server. This role is responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, and reliability for critical business applications. The position requires a high level of independence, strong troubleshooting ability, and collaboration with development and infrastructure teams.This is a direct hire role with our partner in Madison, WI.Key ResponsibilitiesAdminister, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server environments to ensure performance, reliability, and availabilityProvide secondary support for Oracle database environmentsPerform routine database maintenance including backups, restores, patching, upgrades, and health checksDiagnose and resolve database performance issues, availability problems, and data integrity concernsDesign and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity solutions, including regular testingImplement and maintain database security and access controlsPartner with application developers and infrastructure teams to support database-dependent systemsSupport database platform upgrades, modernization efforts, and lifecycle managementContribute to operational reporting related to backups, availability, and system healthParticipate in on-call support for production database systemsDocument database standards, procedures, and configurations5+ years of experience administering enterprise-level database environmentsAdvanced administration and performance tuning for Microsoft SQL ServerExperience supporting high-availability, business-critical systemsExperience implementing automation or process improvements within database operationsStrong troubleshooting skills in complex database environmentsExperience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planningKnowledge of database security and auditing practicesExperience with automation and scripting (such as PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, or similar tools)Familiarity with database monitoring and alerting toolsWorking knowledge of Oracle database administration (preferred)Technology Doesn't Change the World, People Do.®Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
