Senior Water Resources Engineer
A leading engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join its growing Transportation & Infrastructure team in Edison, New Jersey.This is a strategic growth opportunity for an experienced Water Resources professional looking to help build and lead an in-house hydraulic and hydrologic practice supporting major transportation, bridge, resiliency, and infrastructure projects throughout New Jersey and New York.The role offers strong leadership visibility, technical ownership, and long-term career growth within a highly collaborative multidisciplinary environment.ResponsibilitiesLead hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses for bridge, culvert, roadway, and resiliency projectsDevelop and review HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, and related hydraulic modelsPerform floodplain analysis, scour analysis, drainage studies, and stormwater management designPrepare technical reports and supporting documentation for NJDOT, NJDEP, NYSDOT, and related agency submissionsSupport flood hazard area and permitting effortsCoordinate closely with bridge, roadway, and civil engineering teams to deliver integrated project solutionsLead stormwater and drainage system design including culverts, detention systems, and green infrastructureParticipate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activitiesMentor junior staff and support technical development across the teamRequirementsBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or relevant degree.Professional Engineer (PE) license required in New Jersey; New York PE preferred or ability to obtain8+ years of water resources and hydraulic engineering experienceStrong experience with NJDOT, NJDEP, NYSDOT, and/or NYSDEC standards and permitting processesProficiency with HEC-RAS required; HEC-HMS, HydroCAD, StormCAD, or PondPack experience preferredExperience with bridge hydraulics, scour analysis, and floodplain modeling requiredWhat’s OfferedCompetitive compensation and comprehensive benefits packageOpportunity to help build and shape a growing Water Resources practiceExposure to high-profile transportation and infrastructure projectsStrong mentorship, leadership visibility, and career advancement opportunitiesFlexible and growth-oriented company culture focused on employee development.Hybrid option: 2 days WFH and 3 days in office.If you’re looking for an opportunity to lead impactful infrastructure projects while helping shape a growing technical practice, this is a conversation worth having.
