Spring 2026 Intellectual Property Apprenticeship

ArtWorks Legal Incubator is a non-profit organization that has openings for unpaid internships (opportunities for credit) for the Spring 2026 semester for 2L, 3L law students as well as LLM candidates. Through our Apprenticeship and Externship programs, students will gain valuable insight into practicing law in the areas of intellectual property, business, and corporate law. The internship will include educational assignments in various areas of law, such as fashion, entertainment, visual arts, technology, business, and corporate law.
With clients primarily throughout North America and does some business internationally, it assists entertainers, authors, entrepreneurs, inventors, musicians, fashion designers, charities and individuals/entities seeking intellectual property protection, and litigation.
Our law firm is located in New York City successful candidates are expected to be available for remote assignments a minimum of 15 hours per week. This is an unpaid position with the possibility of school credit and future employment opportunities. The desired candidate is looking to grow as a part of the team. Only students interested in working for the firm following the internship need apply.
Duties Include :
Learning the basics of intellectual property law, relating to fashion, entertainment, publishing, new media, and visual arts industries.
Preparation of legal documents
Schedule and attend client meetings (take notes)
Online research and case tracking
Case Management
Filing court documents in person and/or via electronic filing (supervised)
Ideal Candidate :
Completion of or current enrollment in intellectual property courses (copyright, trademark, patent) and/or demonstrated interest or experience in intellectual property law
Must be a self-starter and possess a strong work ethic
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be well organized, detail-oriented, hardworking, enthusiastic, and have an ability to multitask as well as a positive attitude
Must work well with others with a desire to learn and grow personally and professionally
Schedule:
4 hour shift
Monday to Friday
Self-determined schedule
