Vice President of Preconstruction

The Vice President of Preconstruction will serve as a key executive leader responsible for strategy, team leadership, client engagement, and oversight of all preconstruction activities—from early-stage pursuit through project turnover.Find out exactly what skills, experience, and qualifications you will need to succeed in this role before applying below.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & StrategyLead and mentor the preconstruction and estimating team, establishing best practices and scalable processesPartner with executive leadership on business strategy, market expansion, and project selectionDrive continuous improvement in pricing accuracy, risk evaluation, and preconstruction executionPreconstruction OversightOversee all phases of preconstruction including budgeting, conceptual estimating, and GMP developmentEnsure alignment between preconstruction, operations, and business development teamsProvide executive-level review of estimates, schedules, and project assumptionsClient & Business Development InterfaceServe as a primary point of contact for clients, developers, and design partners during early project phasesSupport pursuit strategy, presentations, and proposal developmentStrengthen long-term client relationships with a focus on repeat businessTechnical & Operational ExcellenceGuide feasibility studies, site selection input, and due diligence effortsEnsure constructability, cost efficiency, and schedule feasibility are embedded early in project planningCollaborate with in-house and external design teams to optimize project outcomesQualifications12–20+ years xhyhwjd of experience in commercial construction, with a strong emphasis in preconstruction or estimatingProven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teamsBackground in industrial, warehouse/distribution, manufacturing, or large-scale commercial projects preferredStrong financial acumen with experience in conceptual estimating and GMP developmentDemonstrated ability to build client relationships and contribute to business development effortsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
