Teacher Assistant I - SSI
To provide a well-organized smoothly functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials. Qualifications: Education/Certification: • High School diploma or GED • Obtain Paraprofessional Certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: • Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics • Ability to work well with children • Ability to communicate effectively Experience: Major Responsibilities and Duties: • Assist the SSI teacher daily as needed. • Prepare appropriate lesson plans for grade level assigned groups under teacher direction. • Collaborate with grade level teachers, as needed, regarding student progress. • Reinforce academic material previously introduced by classroom teacher. Response to Intervention (RTI) roles include: administering assessment as required by guidelines, scoring, and filing, prepping and organizing students' RTI folders. • Other possible responsibilities: lunch duty, bus duty, assisting during schoolwide testing, and coverage of teacher's classrooms as needed for meetings. • Perform other duties as the superintendent may assign. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Customer Care Skills: Mental Demands/Physical Demands: Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress.
