CNC Setup & Operator
DescriptionPrimary Function and Scope:Sets up and operates CNC machines to fabricate parts within desired specifications of a work order.Essential Functions Read blueprints, Work Instructions, machine manuals, to determine and perform setup on CNC machines. Set up tools and holders. Set up vises and fixtures in the machine. Machine soft jaws and fixtures. Pick up and set Work Piece Coordinates Start the first part on repeat jobs. Create tool offsets to adjust machine. Inspect completed parts using metrology equipment. Fill out required inspection and production reports. Oversee work of other CNC Operators as assigned. Perform assigned preventive maintenance duties. Run production parts as required. Deburr parts before moving to the next operation or completion.Other Duties Performs any other task assigned by management within scope of position, federal and state regulations. Keeps work area clean. Observe safety procedures.RequirementsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience as a CNC Set up person combined with 2 previous years working as an operator. Related Vocational or Associates Degree in CNC machining is preferred. Experience with MasterCam programing software is a benefitKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to work with machine controls and perform at machine simple edits. Ability to manually input and run G and M codes Proficiency with tooling and fixtures setup Ability to read and interpret blueprint, calculate figures, apply concepts of basic algebra Ability to establish tool length and fixtures offsets Ability to run CNC programs in single block mode, and perform machine edits Good communication skills required Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures.
