Surface grinder / MachinistWe are seeking a skilled Surface Grinder / Machinist to join our precision manufacturing team. This role involves independently grinding components to tight tolerances from raw material while operating multiple surface grinders in a machine shop environment. Responsibilities include inspecting parts to blueprint specifications, preparing material, deburring, heat treating, and performing secondary machining operations.Ideal candidates have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and experience with precision machining, grinding, and inspection tools. This position is well‑suited for machinists who value accuracy, quality workmanship, and a safe, organized shop environment.DutiesRun multiple surface grinders simultaneously to grind parts according to print. Prepare stock to be ground by cutting blanks from bar using horizontal band saw Inspect parts to print using indicators, micrometers, calipersDeburr parts using sanding machines and rotary tumblersPerform steel hardening and heat treat cycles using induction coil, freezers, ovens, quench tankRun drill press and the gun drill. Perform basic maintenance on machines (coolant level, cleaning): report issues requiring engineering or maintenance support. Drive company vehicle to drop off / pick up material from vendorsFollow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
