Manufacturing Engineering Intern

his is a contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to transition into a permanent, full-time role. The company is seeking someone interested in building a long-term career with the organization, rather than a short-term summer internship or temporary assignment. Candidate has to be local to the New Philadelphia area.Position Summary:The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will provide hands-on support to the Manufacturing Engineering team in a fast-paced production environment. This temporary, full-time position offers practical experience in manufacturing processes, continuous improvement initiatives, and production support. The intern will also receive training in robotic welding programming and will assist the Welding Engineer with related tasks and projects as needed.Primary Responsibilities:Assist Manufacturing Engineers with daily production support activitiesSupport continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and waste reductionCollect, analyze, and report on production and quality dataAssist with development and documentation of standard work instructions and process flowsParticipate in time studies, workflow analysis, and line balancing effortsSupport troubleshooting of manufacturing and equipment-related issuesAssist in implementation of engineering changes and process improvementsMaintain accurate records, reports, and engineering documentationRobotic Welding / Welding Engineering Support:Participate in training related to robotic welding programming and operationAssist in programming, setup, and troubleshooting of robotic welding equipment under supervisionSupport the Welding Engineer with process improvements, weld quality initiatives, and documentationObserve and assist with weld trials, testing, and validation activitiesQualifications and Requirements:Currently pursuing a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field; High School Diploma required.Strong interest in manufacturing processes and automation, including robotics and weldingBasic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing conceptsAbility to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications preferredStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environmentWillingness to learn and work in a hands-on manufacturing environmentStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing to a teamTeam orientation, willingness to learn and take direction.
