Mechanical Technology Instructor - Tenure Track

We promote intellectual and personal growth through individualized education, inspire innovation to meet the educational and workforce needs of the community and leverage a variety of partnerships to help our students and community succeed.Corning Community College is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Technology Faculty to join our team in the Fall 2026 Semester. Tenure track faculty members in the areas of Mechanical Technology and Machine Tool Technology within the STEM Division are expected to teach Machining courses starting with the fundamental manual machines, MILLS, LATHES and GRINDERS to advanced high-end CNC equipment and software. Faculty are expected to be able to operate, program, troubleshoot such equipment. Faculty are responsible for teaching a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester.Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparing and updating course materials, grading assignments and assessments, and holding office hours for each course taught to support student learning. Faculty are also expected to advise students on academic progress and career goals.Courses may be offered in-person, asynchronous online, or synchronous online, depending on departmental needs. Tenure-track faculty are expected to organize, maintain, and revise course content as needed to ensure instructional effectiveness and alignment with departmental and institutional standards.Occasional meetings at different CCC locations and in the community may be required; travel to conferences and/or recruiting events may be required. Travel to local (within 60 miles) high schools may be required. Ability to adequately see, hear, and have the manual dexterity to perform and monitor classroom lectures, demonstrations and perform other teaching duties. Prolonged time sitting/standing working with computers and monitors, ability to walk/move across campus including walking up and down stairs, ability to lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, repeated motions may include keyboard typing. Typical classroom, office, laboratory/lab space and indoor building environments, occasional outdoor activity may be required. This should include information about grading policies, class attendance policy, research projects and/or term paper requirements, and the nature of quizzes and examinationsBe responsible for assuring accuracy of course content as defined in the catalogueMeet classes as scheduled and dismiss each class promptlyTeach at off-campus locations, if need arisesFacilitate curriculum developmentDevelop community outreach activitiesUtilize Excel and Access and other relevant computer and software programs/skills to develop computer data base/system for program assessment, data collection, evaluation and potential accreditationEngage in professional development activities offered through the Center for Teaching and Learning and other external opportunitiesCollaborate with Workforce Development and other Academic Departments regarding non-credit and other professional training certifications and educationAdvising Duties (20%) -Post and maintain regular and reasonable office hoursRefer students to appropriate college services for specialized assistanceWrite recommendations for students who need references for work or for transfer to another collegeServe as an advisor to a student organizationCoordinate and participate in advisement and recruitment for new and current studentsCommittee Services (15%) -Attend graduation exercises, unless formally excused by the Associate Dean of Instruction and the Vice President and Dean of Academic AffairsBecome involved in, and contribute to, the improvement of the College and its community through such services as sponsorship of forums, seminars, workshops and conferencesParticipate in all College-wide workshops and fall and spring start-up programs unless excused by the Associate Dean of Instruction or VP/Dean of Academic Affairs.Participate in governance committees as assignedOther duties as assigned (5%) -Complete other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Instruction of the STEM Division or VPAAStrong working knowledge of MathematicsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in team environmentAbility to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students, faculty, and staffDemonstrates commitment to accomplishing work in an ethical, efficient, and cost-effective mannerAbility to effectively convey information verbally and in writing, demonstrate effective listening skills, and display respect for and openness to other people's ideas and thoughtsDemonstrates support for the College's goal of becoming a more diverse, inclusive, and culturally aware community and practicing anti-racist/biased behaviorsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Machining or related and applicable to the job postingPreferred Qualifications:Master's degree in related field.
