Packaging Engineer

DSJ Global is currently partnered with an industry leading automotive manufacturer in the Augusta, GA area who is looking to expand their team with a new Packaging Engineer. The Packaging Engineer develops and implements packaging solutions that support new product launches and ongoing operations. This role partners cross-functionally to ensure packaging meets quality, cost, efficiency, and sustainability objectives across the supply chain.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine packaging requirements for new products and process improvementsDesign and validate packaging to prevent damage during transport and handlingDevelop packaging solutions that support efficient material flow and lean manufacturingSource and implement packaging that meets cost, quality, and timeline targetsAnalyze and optimize returnable packaging inventory levelsCollaborate with suppliers on packaging design and performanceSupport quality validation processes (e.g., PPAP or equivalent documentation)Establish and maintain packaging and labeling standardsMonitor and improve packaging repair and reuse processesDrive sustainability initiatives by reducing waste and expendable materialsIdentify cost-saving opportunities through new materials and technologiesUse 3D CAD tools to evaluate product designs and develop packaging conceptsInvestigate damage issues and implement corrective packaging solutionsPartner with cross-functional teams to support production and supply chain needsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, or related field2+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics. Industry experience in automotive or large consumer goods is preferred.Experience with 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, or similar)Knowledge of material flow, packaging systems, and lean principlesStrong project management and cross-functional collaboration skillsIf this sounds like you, apply in below!
