FunctionThe City of Hampton is seeking a dynamic Benefit Programs Supervisor to lead a team delivering critical financial and social service programs to the community. This role is ideal for a strong leader who is passionate about public service, program integrity, and supporting individuals and families in need.What You’ll DoSupervise and support a team of service providers delivering benefit programsReview and ensure the quality of case management plans and servicesGuide eligibility policies, procedures, and regulatory complianceTrain, coach, and evaluate staff performance; recommend hiring and disciplinary actionsMonitor program activities and expenditures; assist with budgeting processesInterpret policy changes and communicate updates to staffServe as a liaison with community partners and external agenciesAssign caseloads and address complex or sensitive casesDevelop and implement internal policies and proceduresMinimum RequirementsRequires a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a closely related field. Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in administering human service delivery and/or financial benefit programs and other benefit and child welfare programs, or closely related experience.A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position. Must successfully pass a Child Protective Service Check and a criminal background check related to this position before any offer of employment or promotion.Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.Additional RequirementsRequires effective communication with internal and external customers.May be required to work non-standard hours, including evenings and weekends.Requires flexibility and a willingness to learn a broad range of skills and to function effectively in various assignments.
