Teen Ambassadors (Multiple Vacancies)

We're looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and passionate High Schools students to become Teen Ambassadors for an exciting new project developing the Arlington's Children & Youth Well-Being Plan.This is your chance to amplify your voice, represent your peers, and work directly with local leaders to build a stronger, more inclusive Arlington for all children and youth. We want ambassadors who represent a variety of races, cultures, genders, and backgrounds to ensure the plan is inclusive, equitable, and truly reflective of our community.As a Teen Ambassador, you'll be a key part of the planning team, working 2-4 hours per week (mostly Tuesday afternoons) with some weekend availability. Your role includes:Co-Facilitate WorkgroupsWork alongside peers and community members to lead conversations on:Helping all children and youth thrive;Boosting resilience and access to support;Meeting the diverse cultural and language needs of our community; andMaking youth programs more connected and resource-savvy.Co-Facilitate Community MeetingsHelp organize and guide youth-focused community meetings. As a Teen Ambassador, you will listen, share, and lead discussions to gather input from community members.Create Youth Outreach MaterialsWork with the team to create graphics, flyers, and messaging that connect with Arlington teens.Lead Social Media EngagementUse Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms to bring the plan to life and keep the conversation going.Why You Should Apply:Make your voice heard on policies that affect YOU;Build leadership and public speaking skills;Connect with other passionate students and community leaders;Add meaningful experience to your resume or college applications; andGet involved in something bigger than yourself.Minimums:* Reading, writing, arithmetic, technical, interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills required will vary with the level and type of assignment.* Currently enrolled in high school for the 2026-2027 school year.Desirables: Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:Strong communication and leadership skills;Passionate about community engagement and youth advocacy;Experience with social media and design tools is a plus;Ability to work with a team; andCurrent Arlington County High School Student.Special Requirements:* Interested candidates must attach a brief statement -OR- in the questionnaire section describe their experience in community engagement, youth advocacy, and/or leadership, as well as their interest in the role.* A complete application will include an attached resume which highlights how your background and experience align with the qualifications for this position.* A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.Additional Information:* Work Hours: 2-4 hours per week. Some weekend work is required. Most shifts will be Tuesday evenings after school from 4 PM - 6 PM.
