We supply GWs of compute capabilities to the world’s biggest AI Labs at industry-defining speeds.Our team is small, fast, and obsessed with quality. We own outcomes end-to-end, challenge assumptions, and treat our customers' problems as our own. No task is beneath anyone here.There are a few thousand people who will shape the trajectory of superintelligence. Come and be one of them.About The RoleThe Senior Structural Engineer, Modular Construction is an outstanding opportunity for a driven engineer to take real ownership at the forefront of modular data center development. You will lead structural engineering efforts on custom modular systems across a multi-site, multi-state portfolio, from early-stage design through factory production, delivery, and site installation.This is an owner/developer role with approximately 25% travel. You will manage modular designs, external structural consultants and modular manufacturers, coordinate with civil and MEP engineers, and drive technical alignment across fabricators, GCs, and project teams. As Fluidstack continues its rapid expansion, this role offers a clear path to senior leadership, with growth into VP-level responsibility for the right candidate.ResponsibilitiesDesign & StandardsDesign and engineer structural steel frameworks and modular systems for data center applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project requirements and industry standards throughoutPerform static, dynamic, and seismic structural calculations for modular frames, stacking configurations, lifting and rigging conditions, transport load cases, and foundation interface connections using ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural Systems, and SolidWorksDevelop detailed 3D structural models using Revit and AutoCAD 3D; maintain comprehensive model accuracy across design iterations and fabrication releasesProduce detailed connection designs for module-to-module interfaces, foundation anchorage, and field-assembled structural elements, with a focus on constructability, weld specifications, and tolerance accommodationLead design for manufacturability reviews, translating engineering intent into factory-executable details with clear fabrication tolerances and assembly sequencesProduce construction drawings, material lists, and cutting schedules to internal and client specifications; coordinate closely with fabrication and warehousing teams to ensure accurate and timely material deliveryDevelop and maintain modular structural basis of design, master specifications, and standard details for Fluidstack's campus portfolioApply and enforce ACI, AISC, AWS D1.1, ASCE 7, IBC, and other industry-relevant design codes and standards across all project phases and fabrication scopesParticipate in BIM coordination meetings with clients, consultants, and internal teams; present structural calculation reports and technical documentation to clients and design verification partnersManage external structural consultants and modular fabricators from schematic through IFC and factory release; review and redline deliverables, enforce standards, and track design quality across engineering and manufacturing workflowsField internal and external technical inquiries regarding structural products and systems; develop and expand the team's technical knowledge baseDevelop and drive automation of internal engineering processes to improve speed, accuracy, and repeatability across future projectsManage concurrent projects and their deliverables, maintaining schedule alignment across design, permitting, fabrication, and installation workstreamsPermitting & RegulatoryLead structural permitting strategy across jurisdictions for modular programs: building permits, factory inspection and certification, special inspections, and structural observation requirementsCoordinate with state modular program offices, local building departments, third-party inspection agencies, and factory certification bodiesManage permit and factory approval schedules as part of the overall project critical pathMonitor regulatory risk including seismic design categories, wind exposure, transport route restrictions, and jurisdictional modular code acceptance; develop mitigation strategiesConstruction & Fabrication SupportReview fabricator submittals, RFIs, and factory non-conformances for structural scopeConduct periodic factory audits and site visits to document structural fabrication quality, dimensional compliance, and installation accuracyCollaborate with production teams for design optimization, ensuring structural solutions are practical, cost-effective, and manufacturable at scaleManage design changes and change order scope across both factory and field structural workCoordinate structural closeout, as-builts, and acceptance with local authorities, special inspection agencies, and modular certification bodiesBasic QualificationsB.S. in Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis), Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering;
