Job Title: Freelance Network Support Engineer – Wireless Access Point (AP) Troubleshooting & Restoration (Onsite / Smart Hands)Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled Freelance Network Support Engineer / Field Service Technician to provide onsite technical support for the troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and restoration of enterprise Wireless Access Points (APs). The engineer will act as the onsite Smart Hands resource, working closely with a remote Network Operations Center (NOC) or engineering team to identify connectivity issues, restore wireless services, and validate network functionality.This is a project-based onsite assignment requiring strong networking fundamentals, excellent troubleshooting skills, and hands-on experience with enterprise wireless infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesWireless Access Point TroubleshootingDiagnose and resolve Wireless Access Point (AP) connectivity and performance issues.Identify hardware, software, configuration, or environmental problems affecting wireless services.Verify AP operational status, LED indicators, boot sequence, and system health.Perform physical inspection of installed APs for damage, loose connections, or incorrect installation.Network Infrastructure VerificationVerify switch port status and ensure proper network connectivity.Check Power over Ethernet (PoE) availability and troubleshoot power-related issues.Inspect Ethernet cabling, patch panels, wall outlets, and structured cabling.Confirm VLAN assignments and switch port configurations under remote guidance.Test LAN connectivity between the Access Point and network infrastructure.Onsite Smart Hands SupportCoordinate with remote Network Engineers throughout the troubleshooting process.Connect console cables or management interfaces when required.Execute configuration commands under remote supervision.Capture console output, logs, screenshots, and diagnostic information for the remote engineering team.Assist with firmware upgrades or AP replacement if instructed.Wireless Testing & ValidationPerform wireless connectivity testing using laptops or mobile devices.Validate SSID broadcasting and wireless authentication.Verify DHCP address assignment and internet/network access.Confirm roaming functionality where applicable.Test signal strength and overall wireless performance after restoration.Equipment Installation & ReplacementReplace faulty Access Points when necessary.Mount and secure replacement equipment.Connect and label network and power cables according to site standards.Verify successful device adoption into the wireless controller or cloud management platform.Documentation & ReportingRecord all troubleshooting steps and corrective actions performed onsite.Document findings, root cause, and final resolution.Capture site photographs before and after work (if required).Submit a detailed completion report including:Arrival and departure timesWork performedEquipment replaced (if applicable)Test resultsOutstanding issuesSite photosCommunication & CoordinationMaintain continuous communication with the remote support team.Provide regular progress updates throughout the service visit.Escalate unresolved issues promptly.Ensure all work complies with customer procedures and safety standards.Required Technical SkillsStrong understanding of enterprise wireless networking.Experience troubleshooting Wireless Access Points.Knowledge of:TCP/IPDHCPDNSVLANsLAN/WAN networkingPower over Ethernet (PoE)Ethernet switchingFamiliarity with switch experience in network support or field engineering.Experience providing onsite Smart Hands or Remote Hands support.Proven experience troubleshooting enterprise wireless environments.Experience working in data centers, corporate offices, campuses, retail, healthcare, or industrial environments is preferred.Soft SkillsExcellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Professional customer-facing attitude.Strong attention to detail.Ability to work under pressure and meet service-level
