DescriptionJob SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Surgical First Assist (SFA), RNFA, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner with first assist experience to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team in Texarkana, TX. This role focuses heavily on surgical first assist and vein harvesting in the operating room.Responsibilities will vary based on credentials, with PAs and NPs participating in both surgical and clinical care, while SFAs and RNFAs will focus primarily on operative responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Serve as first assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including CABG and valve surgeriesPerform vein harvesting (endoscopic or open techniques)Provide intraoperative support including tissue handling, suturing, and hemostasisCollaborate closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and OR staff to ensure optimal surgical outcomesParticipate in perioperative patient care as appropriateAdditional Responsibilities for PAs/NPs:Conduct outpatient clinic visits including pre- and post-operative evaluationsAssist with patient management, follow-ups, and care coordinationOrder and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic studiesProvide patient education on procedures, recovery, and long-term care Qualifications Current Texas license (if applicable to role: PA, NP, or RNFA)National certification (AANP, ANCC, NCCPA, or RNFA as applicable)First assist experience requiredExperience with vein harvesting strongly preferredStrong surgical skills and ability to work in a high-acuity environmentExcellent teamwork and communication skills Schedule & Compensation Full-time position with schedule aligned to surgical case volumeCall responsibilities may be required depending on roleCompetitive compensation based on experience and role typeComprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, malpractice coverage (if applicable), PTO, CME allowance (for APPs), and 403(b) retirement plan with employer match Why Texarkana?
