Sr Project Manager
Job Title: Sr Project ManagerJob DescriptionThe Sr Project Manager provides leadership and oversight across all phases of complex, multi-million-dollar construction projects, from preconstruction and preplanning through construction and closeout. This role takes full ownership of project performance, including schedule, budget, quality, and safety, while collaborating closely with field project managers, general contractors, owners, engineers, and architects. The Sr Project Manager manages project finances, coordinates subcontractors and internal teams, and ensures that all work aligns with company standards, client expectations, and contractual requirements.ResponsibilitiesLead and oversee all phases of assigned construction projects, from preconstruction and preplanning through construction and closeout.Take full ownership and accountability for project schedule, budget, quality, and overall performance.Manage project finances, including establishing and tracking budgets, monitoring profitability, managing cash flow, and preparing monthly cost reports with accurate cost projections.Review and approve labor, material, and subcontractor budgets to effectively allocate manpower, equipment, and materials throughout the project lifecycle.Identify, review, and manage change orders, including preparing and processing resubmittals as required.Lead strategic planning efforts for each project, including management of project submittals, RFIs, and the change order process.Negotiate, draft, and execute subcontractor agreements with external vendors to support project objectives and contractual requirements.Manage and coordinate subcontractors to ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.Provide indirect leadership and guidance to construction crews, field personnel, and internal support services.Exercise direct responsibility for subcontractors, project engineers (PEs), and assistant project managers (APMs).Actively participate in design coordination, conflict resolution, and constructability reviews across all trades.Solve complex challenges related to scheduling, budgeting, and resource constraints as an active member of the project team.Approve supplier and subcontractor invoices in alignment with contract terms, project budgets, and financial controls.Maintain strong working relationships with general contractors, vendors, and suppliers to support repeat business and growth opportunities.Plan, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources required to execute projects successfully.Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards while maintaining a safe and clean working environment on project sites and in the office.Enforce safety procedures, rules, and regulations and promptly report any issues, incidents, or concerns.Demonstrate and apply a strong understanding of construction methods, material procurement, and project management principles in daily decision-making.Utilize project management tools effectively, with a preference for experience using Bluebeam and Procore.Train and support estimating staff on the technical aspects of project management and project execution.Understand company production and resource capabilities and apply them effectively in the construction process through daily coordination with Superintendents.Professionally solicit, evaluate, and coordinate with vendors and suppliers throughout the procurement process.Curate, organize, and maintain documents related to work orders, personnel, and project records to ensure accurate and accessible documentation.Communicate clearly and professionally in verbal and written form with internal teams, clients, and external partners.Adapt to evolving project requirements and learn new systems and processes to improve project delivery.Essential SkillsExtensive project management experience in construction, with demonstrated ability to lead projects through preconstruction, construction, and closeout.Approximately 4 or more years of experience leading large, multi-million-dollar, complex construction projects.Experience leading a team and managing multiple project stakeholders, including internal staff and subcontractors.Proven experience with project scheduling, RFIs, and submittals.Strong understanding of construction operations, construction methods, and mechanical systems.Demonstrated ability to manage project finances, including budgets, profitability, cash flow, and cost reporting.Experience coordinating and managing subcontractors to meet schedule, budget, and quality requirements.Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Reliable, dependable, and consistently available to support project needs in a fast-paced environment.Strong organizational skills with the ability to curate and maintain project and personnel documentation.Aptitude and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes.Demonstrated leadership experience, including indirect leadership of field personnel and direct oversight of PEs and/or APMs.Solid mechanical knowledge with an understanding of construction operations and project sequencing.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline is highly preferred.Experience in construction management for large, multi-million-dollar, complex projects.Experience with project management software and digital tools; experience with Bluebeam and Procore is preferred.Ability to train and mentor estimating staff on technical aspects of project management.Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with general contractors, vendors, and suppliers.Proven capability to solve complex problems related to scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.Comfort working in a fast-paced construction office environment while coordinating with field operations.Work EnvironmentThe Sr Project Manager works
