This role involves developing local safety instructions, conducting periodic facility inspections, and evaluating complex, unconventional safety problems to implement effective hazard controls. You will serve as a crucial advisor to key commanders on weapons transportation, storage, and handling operations, while also reviewing explosive site plans and construction projects for strict regulatory compliance. Furthermore, you will direct technical safety training for installation personnel, serve on formal investigative boards for safety mishaps, and represent the Weapon Safety Division to maintain strong, effective working relationships across a wide variety of internal and external organizations.OREDUCATION: Applicant must have Undergraduate or Graduate Education in the major coarse of study -- safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology.Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver, with theability to anticipate complex safety issues, develop innovative solutions where precedents may not exist, and guide teams in implementing effective preventative measures. Someone with the capacity to translate complex technical regulations into clear, actionable guidance and present concise, data-driven, safety reports and briefings to any audience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:1. Knowledge of complex weapons safety principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues as they relate to the military installation weapons safety program; the requirements, methods, and techniques of accident/mishap investigation, analysis, resolution of safety problems, and formal reporting procedures; and risk assessment methods and techniques for evaluation of weapons safety practices an risks.2. Knowledge of basic weapons safety and weapons handling standards, methods, practices, techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with regulations and standards.3. Knowledge of standard training techniques, methods, and materials sufficient to develop and present formal weapons safety training and instructional sessions.4. Skill in conducting mishap investigations; analyzing and evaluating hazardous conditions; preparing reports and recommendations and addressing risk assessment methods and techniques for weapons safety compliance.5. Skill in the interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications sufficient to identify hazardous conditions in proposed weapons handling, storage and arming/de-arming procedures.6.
