Job DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Americus, Georgia.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Labor and DeliveryDiscipline: RNStart Date: 06/08/2026Duration: 17 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelAssignment OverviewShift: Nights, 3x12hrsHours: 36 hrs/wkStart Date: Jun 8, 2026Length: 17 weeksOpenings: 1DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a small acute care hospital in Americus, GA, requiring at least 2 years of L&D experience and prior travel experience.DetailsWork in a combined LDRP and Level 2 NICU unit at a small 54-bed acute care hospital in Americus, GAUnit includes 10 LDRP beds, 4 triage beds, 1 C-section suite, with occasional OR usePatient population includes patients 32 weeks gestation or greater (without additional maternal risk factors), antepartum patients (e.g., mag therapy or hyperemesis if stable), and some postpartum care; higher-risk patients such as those with CHF are typically transferred outApproximate birth volume is 30–60 births per monthStaffing follows ACOG guidelines for patient ratiosUnit is supported by 2 LPNs and 2 OR techs who assist with C-sections, secretarial duties, and dischargesCharge nurses are present on the unit and typically manage postpartum patientsRespiratory therapy is available 24/7; pharmacy is not on-site 24/7 but is accessible via on-call pharmacist or a nearby facilityTravelers are not required to take callEvery other weekend is requiredHoliday rotation shared with permanent staffNights shift, 12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:00 AMFetal heart monitoring system is currently WatchChild (transitioning to WatchChild or OBIX)EMR: MEDITECHTravelers with NICU experience may occasionally float to the NICURequirementsActive RN license in Georgia (GA) or a Compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of L&D specialty experience requiredAt least 1 prior travel contract requiredCurrent certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (EFM) or aboveAbility to circulate for C-sections required (scrubbing is handled by OR techs)MEDITECH EMR experience preferredDriver's license required for considerationCandidates must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (as verified by the address on their driver's license) to be eligible for this positionAdditional InformationProvide nursing care in a combined LDRP setting, including labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartumFloor-specific orientation averages 6 shifts and is adjusted based on familiarity with charting systemsOB physician is on-site only when a patient is in active labor; anesthesia is on-site only for VBAC casesDress code: forest green pants and white tops (or white pants); scrubs are not provided by the facility — travelers must supply their own, though hospital scrubs are provided when entering the C-section suiteCandidates who have been employed by the facility within the last 12 months are not eligible for placementAny time-off requests must be submitted prior to the start of the assignmentAmerican Traveler Job ID #P-711277.
