This is a hands-on, critical role for someone passionate about building high-performance systems, ensuring secure communication across distributed environments, and driving modern DevOps practices.
Position Overview
We're looking for a versatile software engineer with strong Java development expertise and solid DevOps capabilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and have deep experience in multithreaded programming, secure communication protocols, and containerized application deployment. You will contribute to core backend services while also helping to optimize CI/CD pipelines and cloud/container infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Java Development
Design, develop, and optimize Java-based applications with an emphasis on multithreaded and concurrent programming.
Implement secure communication mechanisms (TLS, certificate management, encryption standards, etc.) across microservices to support Digital Signature Zero Trust Routing
Write clean, scalable code and contribute to architectural decisions in high-availability systems.
Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with internal/external systems.
DevOps & Infrastructure
Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
Manage containerized environments using Docker and container orchestration tools (Kubernetes strongly preferred).
Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure high system uptime.
Support deployment, logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks.
Collaboration & Process
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to support full SDLC.
Participate in code reviews, design sessions, and technical planning.
Contribute to security best practices and compliance standards.
Primary (85%): Java Software Engineer
Secondary (15%): DevOps tasks - Docker, Kubernetes, AWS infrastructure setup, CI/CD packaging and deployment
Domain context: The product is a zero trust application, so you should ideally have experience building secure, identityaware, accesscontrolled systems
Required Qualifications
4+ years of professional Java development experience w/ C# and .Net.
Strong proficiency in multithreaded programming, concurrency models, and performance optimization.
Hands-on experience with secure communication (SSL/TLS, PKI, encryption protocols).
Solid understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Docker and containerization; Kubernetes exposure preferred.
Familiarity with cloud services specifically AWS w/ Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong scripting ability (Bash, Python, or Groovy).
Experience with Git-based workflows and code quality tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work onsite in Norwalk, CT.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with microservice architectures.
Knowledge of networking fundamentals and secure API design.
Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Background in monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, etc.).
Experience with message brokers or event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
