Linux Infrastructure Engineer (Proxmox / Virtualization)Valencia, Spain | On-site or Remote within CETJob OverviewWe are currently supporting the search for a Linux Infrastructure Engineer to join a large-scale infrastructure project supporting international operations.This role focuses on enterprise Linux infrastructure administration, virtualization environments and infrastructure automation within a mission-critical environment.The engineer will contribute to the operation and optimization of large-scale Linux platforms and virtualization clusters, ensuring system stability, performance, and operational efficiency.This position is well suited for professionals with strong experience in Linux systems administration and infrastructure operations, particularly in environments managing complex virtualization platforms and automated infrastructure processes.Key ResponsibilitiesLinux Infrastructure AdministrationAdminister and maintain enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, Debian or similar distributions).Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability of infrastructure services.Implement security hardening, system updates, and operational best practices.Virtualization PlatformsManage and maintain virtualization environments, including platforms such as Proxmox, KVM or VMware.Support virtualization cluster operations and resource optimization.Networking ConfigurationConfigure and maintain Linux networking components, including VLANs, routing configurations, bonding and firewall rules.Infrastructure AutomationImplement and maintain automation scripts and configuration management using tools such as Ansible or Terraform.Contribute to infrastructure automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and consistency.Monitoring & OperationsSupport monitoring platforms and operational tools used to maintain infrastructure reliability.Participate in troubleshooting and incident resolution activities within complex production environments.Required Qualifications5+ years of experience administering enterprise Linux environments (RHEL, Debian or similar).Hands-on experience managing virtualization platforms such as Proxmox, KVM or VMware in production environments.Practical experience configuring Linux networking (VLANs, routing, bonding, firewall rules).Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible or Terraform.Experience working within large-scale or enterprise infrastructure environments.Strong troubleshooting and operational problem-solving skills.Preferred ExperienceExperience supporting large virtualization clusters or distributed infrastructure platforms.Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Icinga or similar.Exposure to high-availability environments and mission-critical systems.Experience working in international or multi-site infrastructure environments.Work Model & Contract ConditionsLocation: Valencia, Spain (on-site) or remote within the Central European Time Zone (CET)Contract type: Independent contractorContract duration: until 30 June 2026, with possible extension depending on project fundingThe contractor package also includes:21 paid leave days per year (pro-rated)10 official holidaysLife insurance coverageWhy This RoleThis position offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure platforms supporting global operations, working within a technically challenging environment where reliability, automation and operational excellence are key.How to ApplyIf your experience aligns with enterprise Linux infrastructure and virtualization platforms, we would be happy to hear from you.Please apply through LinkedIn or share your profile to explore the next steps in the process.
