Senior Research Analyst
Rational 360 is seeking an experienced Senior Research Analyst, with a focus on source research, policy analysis, and the production of high-quality research materials. This role requires deep expertise in research methodologies, source evaluation, and policy research, as well as the ability to train other staff and establish companywide research standards.The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for overseeing research deliverables, managing media and data subscriptions, and ensuring consistency, accuracy, and strategic value across all research outputs.About Rational360Rational 360 is a full-service strategic communications and digital company that helps organizations win in high-stakes public affairs, corporate communications, and reputation management. Our teams work at the forefront of strategic communications, public policy, and media engagement across a wide variety of sectors.Key ResponsibilitiesResearch & Policy AnalysisConduct in-depth research on public policy issues, legislation, regulatory matters, corporations, industries, and individualsApply appropriate research methodologies based on the subject matter and strategic objectivesAnalyze and synthesize policy developments at the federal, state, and local levelsEvaluate source credibility, verify information, and assess potential reputational, political, or policy riskWriting & Research ProductsProduce and oversee high-quality research memos, issue briefs, backgrounders, policy analyses, and opposition or reputational research documentsTranslate complex policy and research findings into clear, actionable insights for clients and internal teamsManage multiple research projects simultaneously and prioritize under tight deadlinesTraining & Research StandardsTrain and mentor staff on source research techniques, research methodologies, and best practicesDevelop and maintain standardized research templates, formats, and internal guidelines to ensure consistency and qualityServe as a resource for staff questions related to sourcing, verification, and research strategyMedia & Research Tools ManagementAct as the primary owner of media monitoring, research, and data subscriptions across the firmEvaluate, manage, and optimize the use of research tools and platformsLead training sessions on research tools and ensure staff are using resources effectively and responsiblyRequirements5-8 years of professional research experience, preferably in public affairs, strategic communications, political consulting, policy research, journalism, or a related fieldStrong understanding of source research methodologies and policy researchDemonstrated experience training staffProven ability to develop research templates, standards, and workflowsFamiliarity with major media monitoring and research databasesExcellent writing, editing, and analytical skillsStrong attention to detail and sound editorial judgmentBachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferredWhy Join Rational 360?Collaborative, mission-driven team environmentExposure to high-impact work across public affairs, communications, and digitalCompetitive compensation and benefitsHybrid work model with flexibility- this role will be required to adhere to our hybrid work policy which requires employees to work in-person from our HQ located in downtown DC on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.Salary range for this role is 95,000 to 115,000 USD annually.This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
