We believe exceptional hospitality helps all individuals reach their full potential.JOB SUMMARY:The Lead Cook II will assist the Executive Chef with food preparation, menu execution, production management, ordering, and delivering our Hospitality Promise of the Best Food, Best Service, and Best Hospitality for the performance of food catering operations based in Chicago.This person must have a strong knowledge of large prep work, batch cooking, and organizational standards. They will be responsible for working with a team and be able to work independently.As a Lead Cook II, this person acts as a leader under the direction of the Executive Chef and will set an example for the cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers. They need to be able to hold themselves and others accountable and to a high standard.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Prepares high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedulesEnsures quality food service is provided at all timesTastes all prepared food itemsCleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanlinessStores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling proceduresKeeps refrigerators and storerooms clean and neatEnsures food and supply items are stored per standardsOperates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructedAssists in the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as requiredReports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediatelyMaintains good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managersAssist in inventory managementHold themselves and others accountable and to high standardsPerforms job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environmentPerforms other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:6+ years experience in a professional kitchen with 2+ years in a lead roleAbility to work with a team and independentlyServSafe food handlers certification and allergen certificationA working knowledge of cateringExcellent knowledge of kitchen equipment and good knife skillsStrong creativity, desire to learn, and interest in building healthy meals with lots of flavorAbility to develop, document, and follow recipesAbility to lead self and othersAbility to follow the direction of the ChefAbility to organize themselves and othersExperience working with recipes and production sheetsExperience placing ordersExperience taking inventoryAbility to pass a background checkSpanish language fluency is a plusWORK SCHEDULE:Able to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays KITCHFIX TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE:Competitive hourly rate, starting at $20 based on experienceComprehensive benefits package- MedicalDentalVisionHealth savings account (HSA)Flexible spending accounts (FSA)401(k) planPaid time off (PTO, Sick Time, Paid Holidays)Paid parental leaveOpportunity to have an impact on KitchFix's growthKitchFix is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equity and creating a place of belonging.
