Position OverviewOur client is seeking a Controller to lead the day-to-day accounting function and help build a scalable finance infrastructure for a growing distribution business. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader with strong technical fundamentals who is ready to take ownership of the monthly close process, financial reporting, internal controls, inventory accounting and process improvement initiatives.Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will play a key role in strengthening the finance organization, supporting operational growth and driving strategic initiatives, including an ERP implementation and future M&A integration activities.Key ResponsibilitiesMonth-End Close & Financial ReportingLead the monthly close process, including close calendar management, journal entries, account reconciliations and sales tax filings.Prepare monthly financial statements, reporting packages and variance analyses in partnership with the CFO.Support management, board and lender reporting requirements.General Ledger & Accounting OperationsOversee general ledger activity, including bank and credit card transactions and balance sheet reconciliations.Maintain supporting schedules and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.Develop and enhance accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.Team Leadership & Full-Cycle AccountingLead and develop a team of two responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, collections, cash management and accrual accounting.Establish standard operating procedures and promote continuous process improvement across the accounting function.Inventory & Cost AccountingPartner with the VP of Inventory to manage product costing, inventory adjustments, reconciliations and inventory controls.Support cycle counts, physical inventory processes and inventory reporting.Payroll & ComplianceProcess semi-monthly payroll through Paylocity, including commission calculations.Manage payroll-related integrations with 401(k) and benefits platforms.Coordinate annual audits and tax filings with external accounting partners.ERP Implementation & SystemsSupport the implementation of Infor CloudSuite, including data validation, workflow design, reporting development and post-go-live enhancements.Identify opportunities to improve automation, reporting and financial processes.Mergers & AcquisitionsAssist with onboarding acquired businesses, including chart of accounts mapping, process standardization, reporting integration and control implementation.QualificationsRequiredEight or more years of progressive accounting experience.Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.Demonstrated experience owning and improving the monthly close process.Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems, reconciliations, data exports and operational reporting.Ability to lead a small team while remaining hands-on in day-to-day accounting activities.PreferredPublic accounting experience.Experience within a growth-stage or private equity-backed organization.ERP implementation or large-scale system migration experience.Experience with Infor, particularly Infor CloudSuite Distribution or SX.e.M&A integration experience.Experience in distribution, manufacturing, industrial supply, wholesale or other inventory-intensive environments.Key StrengthsTechnical Accounting Expertise: Strong background in GAAP accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and general ledger management.Leadership & Team Development: Experience leading and mentoring accounting staff while maintaining a hands-on approach.Inventory Accounting Knowledge: Understanding of inventory accounting within distribution, manufacturing, wholesale or industrial businesses.Systems & Process Improvement: Proven ability to support ERP implementations, improve workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.Growth-Oriented Mindset: Ambitious, high-potential professional eager to take on increasing responsibility and contribute to a growing organization.About Aris AmplifyThis search is being conducted by Aris Amplify, a Charles Aris Inc. company.
