About the Role
A dynamic, student-centered public charter school in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking an enthusiastic Middle School Health & Physical Education Teacher to join its instructional team for the 2026–2027 school year.
This full-time, hybrid role includes on-campus instruction combined with remote planning and/or asynchronous responsibilities. The school emphasizes whole-child development, culturally responsive instruction, and the promotion of lifelong health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned Health and Physical Education instruction
Teach core health topics such as physical wellness, nutrition, mental health, personal safety, and social-emotional skills
Design developmentally appropriate physical activities that promote fitness, teamwork, and skill development
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment (in-person and online)
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners
Integrate technology and data to track student progress and participation
Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student learning and growth
Provide timely, constructive feedback aligned to health and PE standards
Collaborate with grade-level and specials/PE colleagues on curriculum and programming
Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress and wellness initiatives
Participate in professional development and contribute positively to the school community
QualificationsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field
Master’s degree preferred
Experience
Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in a charter school setting
Middle school Health and/or Physical Education experience preferred
Experience delivering standards-aligned health or physical education instruction
Skills
Strong understanding of Health and Physical Education standards
Ability to create engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
Effective classroom management and strong organizational skills
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching
Ability to obtain or hold appropriate DC teaching licensure
